What is Affiliate marketing?

So you have struggled, researched and written excellent content.  Content that not only your readers enjoy but also you enjoy writing.  Now how are you going to make money with your website?

 In out humble opinion is best to promote products you actually use and support.  Yes it is true sometimes you must promote products you do not own but try to avoid it.  For example if you have a page on diamond rings are you going to buy a new one every time you add a new diamond affiliate program.  Well if you can afford to more power to you but the rest of us must make educated hones judgments about the quality of the products and the fairness of the affiliate program payout.

 Here are some ideas to get your wheels spinning.  If you own a garden site for example you could sell seeds, nutrients, digital and hardcopy books on gardening.

 If you designed a website about lawyers you could join affiliate programs for prepaid legal services.

What if you own a website on healthcare?  You could join affiliate programs, which help stop the spread of cancer, or you could join an affiliate program, which sells natural supplements and vitamins.

 The key is to make sure your products from the program directly relate to the content on the page you place them.

 There are two basic ways to find products you can join the major programs listed below or you can go to individual websites and see if they offer an affiliate program.  The payout is usually higher with individual vendors but the accounting aspect can be a major hassle.  We, use a combination of both. 

 Whenever possible look for a two or three tier program that way you can also earn income from people who sign up under you.  They need to click on your signup link in order for you to get credit so make sure it is clearly visible.

 Whatever combination of affiliate programs you decide to use make sure you only pick high quality products even if your payout is a bit less.  What would you rather have 1000 sales at 1.00 or ten sales at $25.00?
